Medical Exam

Today, Lilah had her medical exam required for the visa application to the US. Everything went just fine, and she is perfectly healthy as far as we can tell. All the babies had the same tall German doctor that had seen some of the babies for rashes and tummy issues earlier last week. He was great with the babies, or at least ours, and we got out with no crying or fussing. She's 13.5lbs and 25.2 inches now, and although that doesn't sound big, I swear she's gotten bigger over this past week. Now we wait for our case investigation to complete and get approval to get our visa. I'm really hoping that things go quickly to keep our double holiday trip (Veterans Day and Thanksgiving) from getting extended. I won't ask to go home early, just on time.

In a few minutes, we'll go to breakfast area of the hotel and have a birthday party for one of the moms. It was supposed to be a surprise, but their 3 year old spilled the beans. It should be a lot of fun. Other than that, our day has been all about napping, both Lilah and Dad. She seems able to sleep all day if she can. She must be growing during all those naps.

It's strange to be sorting out Christmas shopping with Faith over our video conferences. I don't think it would feel like Christmas here no matter how many trees and singing Santa's they put up. The other hotel is putting on a full blown Thanksgiving dinner for Americans, and our friends there are inviting us. Turkeys flown in from the US and pumpkin pie! We ate at a very American restaurant last night called Al Fresco's. It was like an American restaurant, only better. We shared "buffalo" wings (really just excellent barbecue), I had an enchilada, and Joyce had fish 'n chips. A little comfort food goes a long way, and it was nice for a change. Thanksgiving dinner will be good, but it won't be the real deal without my family.
