Today was our first interview at the US Embassy to complete our application for Immigration. Our interview was very short, and I believe it went very well. Now our case is sent to US Citizenship and Immigration in Ho Chi Minh City, which is under Homeland Security. This is where the US investigates the case to make sure all documentation on the child is in order and issues her a visa to enter the US with me, which is the big prize to get so you can go home. We'll have a medical exam on Tuesday to make sure she is in good health to enter the US while we wait.
Grandma Joyce has been with us every step of the way, and has been a great help and great company. Lilah really likes Grandma, and it's really nice to see them spending time together.
I think we got past the meltdown, and solved it with more naps. It's different to jump in at 4mos old and know what she needs. With Maddie and Reno, we had the advantage of starting from 100% sleeping and seeing gradual changes. Naps in the Baby Bjorn don't really seem to count, so those are just incidental naps. She has been very flexible with me learning, and I thanked her for that. Today, I packed everything I could think of for the trip to the Embassy, including my thermos of hot water , but realized as soon as she made her hungry cry that I left the bottles at the hotel. A family we've gotten to know well loaned me a bottle and formula to save the day. I thanked her again for taking a different kind of bottle.
